About Dana

You’ve been an unlucky traveler.

A nightmare trip is unforgettable.
These nightmares are enough to say “Enough!”

You want to remember the white sand beaches, backpacking Europe, or the adventure trek, not the airplane snafu’s or bad weather.
Before I became the TipzTraveler, here are some of my unlucky traveler experiences:

  • Arrived at the airport to learn my flight had been cancelled. Rookie mistake!
  • Miscalculated time zones. Woke up at 5am in sheer panic that I was late for an 8am meeting.
  • Getting ripped off with taxi fares and currency exchange rates. Gringo.

No longer am I the unlucky traveler.  Now, I am the Tipz Traveler.
I travel about 25 times a year. I make it a life priority to take 5 extraordinary, but not exuberant, vacations a year.
The other 20 trips are for business travel; which if planned right can be extraordinary too!

My travels are extensive in the United States from years of corporate travel. Boston. San Francisco. San Diego. Seattle. Florida. Arizona. Colorado. Texas. And — of course — a gazillion conferences in Vegas!

My international travels have been a hobby  since I boarded my first Pan-Atlantic trip to Portugal when I was 17 years old. This is when I got the infectious travel bug.

Travel is a game – a game of reaching the destination using strategy and tools.
My goal is to un-complicate getting from here to there; to discover stress-escaping tips; to truly unplug.

My experiences are shared to help you make your next trip extraordinary.

I AM NOW THE TIPZ TRAVELER

So that’s interesting, but Dana – Who are you?

Dana – grew up in Pittsburgh, PA – a city of grit, hard-working people, and a culture of persistence. Pittsburgh left its mark on me as I moved in my senior year of high school to Toledo, Ohio. During high-school, I studied Spanish and  Spanish Art-History which pivoted my future. Spanish Art History was my inspiration to take a European summer study program.

I came back from Europe as a confident young lady.

I went to Business School, but kept taking electives in Art History & languages. After my third year in college, I enrolled in an 8-week International Business School in Nantes, France. Immersed in France – I fell in love with the travel. Encore!

Returning from Europe, I explored my home continent that I never knew. So began – Grand Canyon, Lake Tahoe, Olympic National Park, Breckenridge, Napa Valley, Memphis, Route 66, The Badlands, Mt. Rushmore … and my first trip to Las Vegas!
I live 15 minutes from JFK and La Guardia airports. I can get to almost anywhere in the world on a direct flight, fueling my bug!

NYC is a destination in itself. Full of culture. Full of differences. Full of amazing food. Full of the hardest working people I know who inspire me every day.

Still don’t know me? Then follow me!
