The journey to Ubud can be taxing with windy streets filled with scooters and cars inching their way to your destination. Upon arrival to Como Uma, the stresses of your journey melt away. We were welcomed by three members of the staff. First, the registration agent efficiently got to business as we were their top priority by collecting our passports. While he was busy to prepare the ‘Como Uma’ team to serve our anticipated needs, a second hospitality agent welcomed us with a cool towel and a delicious ginger, tangerine and spritz drink to cool down our bodies from the sticky humidity. Lastly, the general manager welcomed us to the property and provided many gifts of the resort perks, like discounts at the Uma Cucina and the on-site spa. Our registration agent returned with the passports and escorted us to our room for a full tour of the amenities, all the while the bell man gathered every belonging and carried them to our room at once.
Within only an hours time, every member of the staff knew our names and room number. I have no idea how that works, but at each step we made we were welcomed by first or last name.
The next morning we reviewed our plans for the day at the front desk to get some advice and tips. The General Manager approached us to welcome our morning and to our jaw-dropping delight he offered to upgrade our room to a pool villa suite. We couldn’t believe it! Why us? We didn’t ask, we – of course – said Yes upon seeing the amazing room!
He explained that it was his pleasure to make sure each guest has a relaxing, stress-less experience. Since the pool villa room was to remain unoccupied during our 3 night visit, he preferred us to enjoy one of the best rooms of his property. We squealed in delight. Upon receipt of the room key, it only took a few moments for us to jump in the private pool to refresh from the Ubud humidty.
Not every guest will experience this same service as we did – we traveled to Ubud, Bali in the lowest of the low season, so occupancy was low! What struck me was the General Manager’s motivation to use the resources available to him to give us the most pleasurable experience of the property as a gift.
From the breakfast service to attending our daily needs and to dinner each evening at Uma Cucina, the Como Uma team gives you an experience of a lifetime. We plan to return to Bali, only to stay again at Como Uma – this is how good the experience was for us – and hopefully for you too!!
